B11-bl-2170 Purple AfghanistanBeautiful and rare antique Chinese glass tabular disk, often mistakenly called Peking glass. 33 34mmx36 38mm. 2. 5mm hole. These beads have the soft colors and bubbles of old Chinese glass. This type of glass was often intended to simulate gemstones such as jade, emeralds and quartz. Before 1911, beads of this type were made as counterweight pendants to Mandarin Court jewelry. After 1911 these disk beads were made for the Chinese Opera costumes. Size
